Relaxation Techniques Workshop |

Dr. Bhavna Barmi (senior psychologist at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute) and Ms Millin Sangha ( Counselling Psychologist) conducted a workshop on Relaxation Techniques. The workshop was conducted at DUNHUMBY on 18th December. The workshop was aimed at explaining the relaxation techniques and their benefits too. The workshop started by explaining “ what is relaxation”? relaxation is aact of relaxing the mind and body and can also be defined as the state of being relaxed. After this the relaxation techniques are told, relaxation technique is an activity that helps a person to relax. After this the benefits of relaxation techniques are told like slow heart rate, reduces blood pressure. Types of relaxation techniques are also told like deep breathing which is done by sitting straight and breathing from nose and exhaling from mouth, progressive muscle relaxation which is done to relax muscles, guided imagery which is done by lying on your back by close eyes and imagining peaceful and happy places, like this meditation and mindfulness meditation are also told. The lecture closes by telling other relaxation techniques like music,art,pets,yoga,warm baths etc.The workshop was very beneficial with a lot of learning and knowledge to take back and hence was a success.
