In today’s global world, the importance of English cannot be denied and ignored since English is the most common language spoken everywhere. With the help of developing technology, English has been playing a major role in almost all sectors, public as well as private. Particularly, as a developing country, India needs to make use of this world-wide spoken language in order establish itself as a growing economy and to prove its international power. Dr Bhavna Barmi along with Dr. Nipa Das, Ms. Sakshi Mandhyan and Ms. Nitika Mehta conducted a 3- day workshop to increase the proficiency in English of employees working in Power Grid. Along with training the employees to improve their language skills, they were also taught ways to communicate effectively. Effective communication helps us better understand a person or situation and enables us to resolve differences, build trust and respect, and create environments where creative ideas, problem solving, affection, and caring can flourish. As simple as communication seems, much of what we try to communicate to others—and what others try to communicate to us—gets misunderstood, which can cause conflict and frustration in personal and professional relationships. By learning these effective communication skills, you can better connect with your spouse, kids, friends, and coworkers. Our trainers made the entire workshop as an interactive medium, where in a lot of different modalities and creative techniques were used to enhance the communication and well as English of the employees. For instance games were prepared to quiz the participants learning and understanding, role play etc. The employees responded beautifully to the workshop. It was ensured that each participant was involved equally and that each participant had something to take back home. All together it was a great experience for each one of us as trainers. |
