BONDS OF TOGETHERNESS 2016

Continuing with our tradition of celebrating the Valentine's Day with students of Swashrit School, we organized the second edition of the event Bonds of Togetherness at our two centers in Bapa Nagar and Ranjeet Nagar on 13th February and 17th February 2016 respectively. This is the medium via which we try to instill the feeling of oneness and a sense of belonging amongst the students. It was a day filled with fun activities and treats for the students intending to teach the students the importance of love and friendship which are the foundation of any peaceful society. This event was pioneered by Dr. Bhavna Verma, volunteered by last year participants Mrs. Noor and Mrs. Alka and supported by the teachers of Swashrit Society. Throughout the day various activities were organized for the students including:

Card Making- The students were first told about the significance of Valentine's Day and its history and were asked to make cards for their loved ones. The students unleashed their creative side and got their hands dirty with the paints and glitters while making cards for their parents or friends and some even for their teachers expressing their love and gratitude.

Games- Mrs. Noor Popli organized several games for the students in which the students showed their competitive side while having fun. The games were targeted to teach the students that they should encourage and support each other and not just focus on their target. The atmosphere was charged with excitement and cheers for the fellow students.

Cake Decoration- One of our volunteers Ms. Diksha Jain who is an avid baker, taught the students the basic techniques used while decorating the cakes using sprinklers and chocolate sauce. The students participated enthusiastically in this activity as it proved to be a treat for their taste buds as well.

We believe that such events will help the underprivileged students to understand that the feeling of love and belongingness should not be limited to just our family but also to the community. It was a satisfying day for all when it ended with smile on every student's face.

BONDS OF TOGETHERNESS 2015

We at Swashrit Society strongly feel that love forms the cornerstone of a just and benevolent society. It is the driving force behind achieving real and true happiness. In order to commemorate the virtues of love and friendship we celebrated ‘Bonds of Togetherness’ on 16 February 2015. It was a day full of fun filled activities dedicated to bring a smile on the faces of the children of Swashrit Society. This initiative was pioneered by Dr. Bhavna Verma and supported by various patrons of Swashrit Society. The event was an enormous success as a number of people joined hands with us to create an atmosphere of love and positively impact the lives of these children.

Story Time!-The event started with a delightful story telling session by Ms. Ritika and Dr. Preeti. The kids listened with rapt attention as our master story tellers shared with them some wonderful tales symbolising love, friendship and sharing. Every story was made interactive by incorporating themes, actions and morals. The storytelling sessions will now be a regular feature for these children.

Sweet Indulgence- There is nothing like satisfying your sweet tooth and giving yourself a treat by indulging in a delicious cupcake. The joy of enjoying a dessert is even greater when you are able to add your personal touch to it. Our expert baker Ms. Alka Suneja helped the children decorate their own cupcakes. The kids enjoyed thoroughly as they engaged in adorning their cupcakes and sharing them with their friends and siblings.

Art Therapy- Art activities allow children to express themselves and learn new things in an engaging manner. Ms. Noor guided the children as they drew the pictures of things that they love on heart shaped cut outs of paper. This helped them not just display their creativity but also create things that bring them happiness. The children also played fun games which helped them enjoy this day to the fullest.

It was heart warming to see how various people came forward and contributed their time and energy to provide a loving and nurturing day to these children. It has always been the endeavour of Swashrit society to bridge the gaps of the society by enhancing the spirit of sharing and caring in people. We believe that such expressions of love not just spread positive vibes but they also empower these underprivileged kids to lead better lives. ‘Bonds of Togetherness’ was a perfect example of how our love is not just limited to the ones that are close to us but extends to the whole of humanity.
